End Marine and Environmental Pollution with Karataş Wastewater Treatment Plant

Karataş Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was built in Karataş district by ADANA Metropolitan Municipality Adana Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ), started bacteria production. After 10 days of bacterial production, the filtration process will begin at the facility. (DHA) Karataş Wastewater Treatment Plant, where our GENMBR® membrane bioreactor modules are used, currently has a capacity of 6250 m3/day. It also serves a population of 55 thousand.

Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who examined the facilities, announced that the treatment plant, which will save the future of the district, will start working within 10 days. President Zeydan Karalar said, “Officers carried bacteria from Güney Treatment. We will produce bacteria for about 10 days here. After that, we will begin the filtration. The water that will appear after filtration; It will become immaculate to be used in agriculture and garden irrigation.” (DHA)

THE OBSTACLE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IS RELIEVING

With the Advanced Biological Treatment Facility starting to operate at full capacity, the most important obstacle preventing Karataş from becoming a tourism district at the desired level will be removed. With the facility, which will reach a capacity of 17 thousand cubic meters, the problems that cause sea and environmental pollution will be reduced as much as possible. In addition, the water treated at the facility can be used for agricultural irrigation.

While designing the Karataş Wastewater Treatment Plant, GENMBR® membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment process was preferred in order to ensure that the effluent water quality is at the highest level, since the discharge site is a sensitive area. Within the scope of the treatment plant construction, 2,865 m of collector line was also completed and put into practice. With the Advanced Karataş Biological Treatment Plant, which President Zeydan Karalar attaches great importance, the development of tourism in the district is expected to accelerate.

WASTEWATER IS OF QUALITY TO BE USED IN AGRICULTURAL IRRIGATION

Wastewater collected through sewer lines and the collector will be treated in accordance with environmental legislation and will be rendered harmless to the sea, soil and atmosphere. Wastewater will be discharged to the receiving environment in a treated form. In this way, wastewater pollution will be prevented from mixing into the sea. In addition, the effluent of the Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant can also be used for agricultural irrigation.

THERE WILL BE NO ODOR PROBLEM

Thanks to the odor removal unit, citizens are prevented from feeling any discomfort due to the facility. The people of Karataş, who had to struggle with the odor problem as well as water pollution for many years, will also get rid of the bad smell. (DHA)
